INTRODUCTION TO GREEN WOODWORKING This is a workshop to introduce the student to the use of locally harvested green wood (freshly cut timber) to produce furniture, bowls, etc. with an emphasis on traditional hand tools and body powered machines. Also covered in this workshop will be talks on coppicing and woodland management. October 27 - 28, 2007 April 5 - 6, 2008 2 Days, $125
BUILD A SHAVING HORSEThis workshop introduces the student to the versatile holding device used by chair makers and other woodland crafters. Each student will construct their own shaving horse with optional holding features. BUILD A WELSH STICK CHAIRLearn to build a traditional Welsh style Windsor chair. The student will experience steam bending, turning on a pole lathe, use of the shaving horse to shave the spindles for the back, arms and finishing techniques. The
first three days of the workshop will consist of construction a tool box/chest
using simple table say joinery, hand planes and scrapers. The remaining two
days will be making the hand forged hardware, hinges, handles and latches for

![]() BLACKSMITHING CLASSES BASIC BLACKSMITHING Learn basic blacksmithing techniques: How to manage a fire, hammer techniques and how to construct their own propane forge. Each student will make several types of hooks and hangers as well as learn how to upset, draw out and twist metal. January 19 - 20, 2008 March 1 - 2, 2008 May 17 - 18, 2008 2 Days, $210 HINGES AND HARDWARE This is a workshop in making hinges and hardware for furniture projects, chests and building construction. The student will learn hammer finishing, splitting and making fasteners (hand forged nails, etc.). December 22-23, 2007 February 16-17, 2008 2 Days, $325 TOOL MAKING AND KNIFE MAKING In this workshop the student will learn to forge high carbon steel into tools and knife blades, heat treat and temper blades, make laminated handles for their finished blades and how to sharpen tools and knives. March 8 - 9, 2008 May 24 - 25, 2008 2 Days, $300 ![]() CORACLE MAKING AND REGATTA This is a three day workshop in making the traditional Welsh coracle or corwg, a canvas covered boat used since early Roman times. The student will construct his/her own Teifi coracle, cover and tar the boat and make the sculling oar used to propel the craft. On the last day of the class the students will assemble on Paint Lick Creek for a regatta down stream. June 27 - 29, 2008 Regatta July 4, 2008 3 days, $150 + $40 Materials fee
